Villa Metochi is just 2,5km away from the centre of Rethymno. Following the Kazantzakis street and then the pine hill Evligia, we meet the Megalo – Irfan (grand) Metochi and right after the extension of it, the Mikro – Rizvan (small) Metochi, which took its name from the Turkish mansion of Rizvan and it is classified as "traditional village with high cultural value".
The town of Rethymno is a cigarette’s walk away and a stroll through the narrow alleys of its picturesque old town is really worthwhile. The Venetian port and fortress are the landmarks of the town and their imposing location gives Rethymno a special charm. The 5km long sandy beach of Rethymno is an ideal destination for a short getaway.
In addition, there are many different routes you can take to discover the beauties of the area and the amazingness of the whole island of Crete (E4 paths, cycling routes, rock climbing routes, walking rides, routes with car or motorbike, etc).
A visit to the amazing beaches of South Rethymno (Plakias, Souda, Damnoni, Ammoudi, Preveli, Agios Pavlos, Triopetra, etc.) should not be missed. Visitors can also explore Arkadi (20km), the archaeological site and the museum of ancient Eleftherna (25km), Margarites village (28km) and many other traditional Cretan villages.
